Holiday parties are just around the corner. You might have even started your celebrating over Thanksgiving! January 1st is the time when a lot of us write down our New Year’s Resolutions, and more than likely, if you are like me, your list will include the re-occurring “Lose Weight”.
I have been doing some research on the Wii System and what programs it offers to help lose weight and stay fit. There are programs that will meet everyone’s needs and physical preference. This article will primarily focus on some of those items. In addition, I will include some “maintenance” items you might want to purchase to keep your Wii System running in tip top shape too!
It is pretty amazing the Wii programs that are out there targeting all sorts of activities for losing weight. The biggest problem is going to be to decide which program will benefit you the most. I think that it is wonderful that our children can have fun, use these programs and be healthier.
How many of us would love to go a Gold’s Gym for our workouts? A lot of us either do not have the time, money or confidence to workout with other “buff” individuals. Well Wii has brought Gold’s Gym into your home! Check out Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout.
Wii’s motion tracking control and optional support for the Balance Board accessory, helps to give you can a real workout that is fun and entertaining right at home. Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout will run you through exercises such as cardio boxing, sit-ups, jumping rope, running, and more. The game keeps track of your progress, and as you become more fit, the game’s level of difficulty evolves to give you a rigorous workout all the time.
Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout consistently tracks your progress as you work out, maintaining a calendar of your activity. It tracks your burned calories and body weight, and it adjusts your workouts based on fitness level. It is like having your own personal trainer working with you right in your living room. A one-week Gold’s Gym Trial Membership is also included with your purchase.
Be sure to pick up a Balance Board, if you do not already own one. This is used in conjunction with a lot of the Wii programs. I have posted a link for this item at Amazon below. Amazon also features Bonus Bundles, such as Wii Fit Plus, that comes with the Balance Board. This currently lists for $94.99 (check this price as it varies).
Amazon is currently running a bundle bonus special on the Nunchuck Controller Page that states you can purchase the Wii Console, and the Wii Remote Controll for $253.97. Please be sure to check on the price updates.
Here is information on another set of Wii fitness programs. They appear to be a little more advanced, so maybe those of you who are advanced in your workouts may find these a little more challenging:
EA Sports Active More Workouts allows you to workout with a buddy and includes 35 new exercises and fitness activities. This program comes with a structured fitness plan (the 6 Week Challenge) that accommodates experienced 30 Day Challengers and new users of EA Sports Active. With its compatibility with EA Sports Active Personal Trainer you will be able to transfer details like age, weight, name and gender from the old game and it will also recognize your previous workout information.
The EA Sports Active Multiplayer Pack is compatible with the Wii Balance Board. This pack allows you to turn the multiplayer capable EA Sport Active into a two player workout. This Pack contains a leg strap used in conjunction with a Wii Remote controller configuration, and an adjustable resistance band.
The Wii Activ3 Workout Kit includes 3 resistance tubes (light, medium and heavy), 1 set of handles, 1 leg holster with Nunchuck slot and 1 carrying bag. The web page on Amazon for this item features the ability to purchase this item, the EA Sports Active More Workouts, and the EA Sports Active as a bundle and the price listed is $116.97.
EA Sports Active is a game that includes a deep co-operative multiplayer game mode. The 20 minute circuits feature activities that will target upper and lower body as well as cardio. These 20 minute workouts will change as your progress changes. You will be able to track calories, intensity and your progress throughout your fitness journey.
I hope that you will find this information helpful in your search for home fitness programs. I wish you success in losing your unwanted weight, and the ability to get into a program that will help keep you fit. Hopefully, New Year’s Eve, 2010 will find one less resolution on your list!!
I wish you the best!

At this time of the year we are looking for the best deals online to help our money stretch. Check on the deals listed on this page.
I have found one of the best places to purchase Wii products is on Amazon. They have great prices and if you spend over $25.00 shipping is free. Think of what you will save on larger ticket items just on tax!
To begin your Wii experience you will need the Wii Console. In case you hadn’t noticed the price on this system has recently dropped by $50.00 in most stores. This console does not take up a lot of room and is easy to operate. It can be stood up or laid down which makes finding a location for it quite easy.
Check out Amazon as they offer a lot of “bundle” deals including the Console and various groups of games.
Being a grandma, I have had first hand experience with Wii!! I have come to realize that Wii is more than a game system for the younger set. In addition to all of the games, there are programs to help us older folks get fit, and lots of other programs that we would enjoy. I really have fun times with my grandchildren playing anything from what we call Cow Racing (actually it is Charge on the Wii Play), to Shawn White Snowboarding (yes I even get up on the grind rails!) and Crosswords.
The Wii Play includes such great activities as Billiards, Table Tennis, a shooting range, a point-and-fire game of target practice in the Duck Hunt tradition, Pose Mii, Table Tennis, Fishing, Charge! and Laser Hockey, Tanks and Find Mii, in which you scan the crowds to find the right Mii – Miis you and your friends created make an appearance. Just this one game provides hours of fun and entertainment. As a special bonus this video comes with a remote control.
The Wii Fit Plus is the newest fitness video for Wii. You can input the amount of time you want to devote to your fitness program and/or what areas of your body you want to target, and Wii will suggest a diverse routine for you. You will be having so much fun with the various programs you will not even think of it as a workout! There is jogging, yoga and zooming across a beach on a Segway just to mention a few. If you do not already own a balance board you will need one of these to use the Wii Fit Plus. Amazon offers a bundle deal with the Wii Fit Plus Video and the Balance Board. Please click on any of the Amazon product links above to shop the various items on Amazon and find the current price deals.
I hope that you have as much fun with the Wii System as I do. I am personally looking forward to buying the Wii Fit Plus and Balance Board. This will definitely help me in my fitness program.
